Sound clips from a Sobriety Dinner at Dze L K'ant Friendship Centre in Smithers on Sunday, April 30 2017.
Sobriety dinners or feasts are organized to celebrate even modest successes at abstinence from addictions like alcohol and drugs. Abstinence, as you may know, is a tough road and to succeed, it’s essential to have support. Adam Prytula, with a little help from people like DeWayne Robinson, Justin Young and Mel Bazil, set up one of the greatest examples of grassroots non-profit that I’ve ever witnessed. They designed a very simple t-shirt to raise funds, and called on the community to attend. The Friendship Centre was full. These are the moments that I’m proud to be part of the human species.
