Smithers BC has a thriving economy with lots of locally-owned shops, strong businesses and some vibrant industry all working together. Most noon hours, Main Street bustles! And, Smithers is a tourist destination, a great spot for skiing, hunting and fishing. We have an art gallery, a museum, a movie theatre, a couple of craft breweries, and lots of great, local music. I’ve never seen it as a mining town, though. And yet, as we’ll hear from Kendra Johnson, President and CEO of the Association for Mineral Exploration and Elizabeth Miller, Vice President at Seabridge Gold, mining affects Smithers almost to a greater degree than anything else.
