Canadian Navel Gazing
A couple of years ago, I discovered a book by Marian Engel through a re-broadcast of a CBC interview with the author. The book is called simply, Bear. It’s been called “awkward” and has been banned as pornographic. The minute something is banned is the minute I go to the library and find out why. Bear won the Governor General’s Award, so someone thought it was worth reading. I think so, too.
We have a copy of Bear at the Smithers Public Library. Get thee hither and read!
