Kicking at the Darkness

Here we are, at the end of our series of gender queer conversations based on Dr Lee Airton’s book Gender: Your Guide. But before we close out this series, Laszlo and I want to offer one last discussion on what it means to move from being a supporter to being a true ally.

How does Smithers rate as a community on this point? Well, Laszlo is not going to sugar-coat the reality of living as a gender queer person in Smithers, but they have some excellent suggestions and it wouldn’t take so much to be the kind of cmommunity that everyone could be included in. We’re calling this final episode Kicking at the Darkness, from Bruce Cockburn’s song, Lovers in a Dangerous Time.

If you’ve been listening to our bi-weekly episodes, you may recall that Laszlo and I suggested one final conversation with Dr Lee Airton, the author of the book Gender: Your Guide, on which we based our conversations for this podcast. I’m currently negotiating that final conversation with Lee, and if we can make it happen, we’ll air it here on CICK. I'm pee-my-pants excited to be working at making this happen (and my life is so much better for having met these two extraordinary people)

Meanwhile, thanks for listening, wizzie.
