A re-airing of From Backpacks to Safe Housing with Niki Ottosen (originally aired April 4, 2022)
The Backpack Project is a Victoria BC initiative that provides mutual aid to community members who live without homes. They collect life saving supplies such as tents, sleeping bags, blankets, clothing, food, water and medical supplies and distribute those supplies to anyone in need. Niki Ottosen and her family are the official name behind The Backpack Project, but as Niki will tell us, the initiative only succeeds because of the generous support and donations from local businesses and everyday citizens throughout the Greater Victoria Regional District. On any given day, nearly 3,000 people are watching Niki’s Facebook page, The Backpack Project, ready to help.
