Clyde | more on remote life at Madii Lii |
Over the long weekend, I took a trip into the bush, to the pipeline resistance camp, Madii Lii.
My host, Clyde, talked about a lot of things you might consider important in the northern interior of BC, but the biggest lesson I took with me was respect for indigenous endurance, overcoming obstacles all the while retaining your inner serenity. Clyde, who lives alone at the camp much of the time, has been through many hardships. He was gracious to me, kindly and generous when speaking of others, with the big heart I have come to appreciate and admire among the indigenous here.
This will be the first of a two part series resulting from our conversation. In today’s episode we’ll hear about the slow pace of life at Madii Lii. Next week, Clyde will share a little of his past, and some of his aspirations.
